Beginning in 2016, Blitz partnered with a military/veteran’s legal defense non-profit that funds the legal defense of American troops who have been wrongfully accused of war crimes at no cost to them or their families.
Many of these men are following orders from their superiors and are sometimes charged with crimes they did not even commit. These are often young men in their twenties and some of them have a wife and children – kids that will grow up not knowing their father if the organization doesn’t step in and help. A successful legal defense often requires hiring a costly civilian attorney which few soldiers can afford, leaving many bankrupted and saddled with enormous debts impossible to repay.
Blitz Digital Group was tasked with the goal to build a self-sustaining house file program for a military/veterans non-profit. Two key goals of the program were to grow the number of active email subscribers for the client and ultimately turn subscribers into donors.
Solution/What We Did
- Blitz leveraged the news cycle, political climate, and celebrity signature to build a petition campaign with the purpose of list acquisition
- We identified key list rentals and revsharesto gain new subscribers
- We developed a welcomes series to introduce new subscribers to the non-profit, their mission, and ultimately drive donations
- We developed a regular content calendar to keep subscribers engaged and valued balancing a 2-3 engagement emails per fundraising appeal
The initial goal of the digital campaign was collecting petition signatures to send to the White House. During the first 12 months, the client invested $270,000 in prospecting lists, collecting 157,038 petition signers and maintaining an unprecedented 122% ROI. The majority of these petition signers and donors transitioned to become loyal supporters.
At the end of the first year, our client grossed over half a million dollars from 10,335 unique donors. Their 3,650 person housefile grew to nearly 200,000 with over 100,000 active subscribers that raises tens of thousands of dollars each month.
